What side effects can this medication cause?
Side effects from using nortriptyline may include:
dizziness
drowsiness
dryness of mouth
headache
increased appetite (may include craving for sweets)
nausea
tiredness
weakness (mild)
unpleasant taste
weight gain
Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
constipation
mild tremor
sweating
mild agitation, weakness, or headache
ringing in the ears
nausea
loss of weight or appetite
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, face, or tongue; or hives)
seizures
a fast or irregular heartbeat
heart attack
high blood pressure (blurred vision, severe headache)
difficulty urinating
fever with increased sweating, muscle stiffness, or severe muscle weakness
